Metal roofing sheet FAQs
Box profile or corrugated — which should I choose?
Both perform well; the choice is mostly visual. Box profile is the crisp, modern agricultural standard — available in 32/1000 and the deeper-ribbed 34/1000, while 13/3 corrugated suits traditional buildings, stables and period repairs. Cover widths differ slightly, so run your roof through the roofing calculator to see quantities for each.
Should I buy 0.5mm or 0.7mm sheets?
As a rule of thumb, 0.7mm is the safer choice for roofs — it spans purlins more stiffly and handles foot traffic during fitting better. 0.5mm is popular for cladding, sheds and lighter-duty jobs. If in doubt, tell us what you are building and we will advise: 01278 228670.
What is the difference between Plastisol and Polyester coatings?
PVC Plastisol is a thick, textured coating built for long exterior life on farm and industrial buildings. Polyester paint is a lighter, more economical finish. Both come in a range of colours — pick your finish in the product options and the price updates instantly.
What is Anti-Con felt?
An anti-condensation felt applied to the underside of the roof sheet. It holds moisture from the night air until it can evaporate off in the morning, stopping condensation dripping onto whatever is below — well worth it on workshops, stables and storage buildings.
Are your metal sheets really cut to length?
Yes — we roll sheets here in Somerset and cut them to your exact lengths up to 7 metres, so there is no waste and no cutting on site. Enter your lengths on the product page, or let the roofing calculator work them out from your roof measurements.
